As an IT Technician, I work on software development, application modernisation, and the maintenance of institutional systems. I work with inherited and vendor-built applications across WordPress, Sitecore, and OutSystems, often improving existing systems rather than building entirely from scratch. I introduced Git workflows and more structured documentation to inherited codebases that previously lacked proper version control. I also work on system design, troubleshooting, application integration, and deployment across Linux-based environments. My development work includes rebuilding legacy platforms into Drupal sites and migrating OutSystems applications towards a modern Next.js and Node.js stack. I also design custom APIs to support frontend and backend integration during these transitions. My role therefore covers both application development and the wider engineering work required to maintain, modernise, and deploy real-world systems.

In this technical and coordination role, I handled the planning, scheduling, logistics, and technical execution of departmental events, including conferences, seminars, and webinars. I maintained the department’s website and social media platforms, and used my design skills to create promotional graphics and digital content. I also worked on IT-related tasks and developed custom automation tools to streamline daily operations and improve internal workflows. Alongside these responsibilities, I continued developing my technical skills through self-directed learning in areas including Next.js, WordPress, PHP, Docker, Linux, and web development. This role allowed me to combine IT, web management, automation, design, and coordination while working in an academic and clinical environment.

As a Clerk II, I supported key administrative and planning work for the Kai Tak Hospital relocation project. I coordinated with multiple departments, managed project budgets, contributed to the planning of new hospital floor layouts, and supervised team activities to support the project’s progress. I was also responsible for maintaining the library’s books, periodicals, and microform records, ensuring that information remained organised, accurate, and accessible. In addition, I provided front-line support to users and visitors, handling enquiries and helping them navigate available resources. This role strengthened my experience in project coordination, planning, communication, documentation, and working with different stakeholders.

In this customer-facing role, I handled product exchanges and returns while maintaining a strong focus on customer experience and problem solving. I dealt with complex customer complaints, investigated operational issues, and identified opportunities to improve service processes. I also used data and operational information to support management decisions and continuous improvement. In addition to customer service responsibilities, I managed spare-parts inventory and maintained appropriate stock levels to support smooth daily operations. This experience developed my communication, problem-solving, data-analysis, and process-improvement skills, which later became useful when I moved into IT and development roles.
